Artist by calling, art historian by training, completely obsessed with yarn. The colors, the textures, the infinite possibilities within each skein...
I love knitting cables. I love knitting lace. Cables combined with lace are my idea of a knitting nirvana. I have been designing knits ever since I first picked up the needles and a how-to book; my first 'swatch' was a sweater for my baby boy. Since then my designs appeared in numerous publications online and in print, such as Interweave Knits, Brooklyn Tweed, Jane Austen Knits, Twist Collective, and Knitty.
I am a little bit of a nomad; originally from Europe, I've lived in six US states and two European countries. I've studied fashion design and I have an extensive background in studio arts and art history. All these travels and studies, along with my love of nature, continue to inspire my knitting designs.
I adore Ravelry and its incredible, friendly community, which became a part of my day, every day. I've met more amazing and inspiring people there than I could have ever imagined, and many became real-life friends during my travels. So thank you for your support and all your kind words, the hearts and the stars you've been giving to my patterns and projects, they mean a world to me ♥.
I am probably best known for my knitted lace patterns best known for knitted lace designs and for creating the short row method of shaping crescent shawls. I love to help make lace knitting fun and manageable even for the beginner lace knitter and almost all of my designs are very easy to customize. Knit what makes you happy, I always say. I am proud to have been called the Borg, because resistance is futile, and the Lace Vader. Welcome to the lace side...

What is yarnQuest by Susanna IC? yarnQuest is a series of exclusive knitting kits. The kits contain unique, custom hand-dyed yarns and distinctive, limited-edition project bags with new patterns designed by me specifically for each kit - patterns in line with the already popular Annis, Diantha, Stellaria, and Caireen. These yarnQuest patterns are exclusive to the club for a minimum of six months. Unlike a club, yarnQuest kits are available for purchase in very limited quantities; once sold out, they will not be available ever again. Join my mailing list to be notified about new yarnQuest kits.
Why yarnQuest? During all of her travels, I have met an entire universe of indie dyers. Each dyer has a distinctive point of view and a unique source of inspiration, which is reflected in the way they color their beautiful yarns. I've also discovered indie crafters who make unique knitting bags and knitting notions that reflect worldwide inspiration. The one thing they all have in common is passion for yarn and color, and I created yarnQuest to be able to share their art with you.
